NCBA Backs Kenya Masters Swimmers For South Africa Nationals in George

Kenya’s masters’ swimmers will head to George, South Africa, for the South Africa National Masters Swimming Championship with a renewed sense of belief after NCBA stepped in to support their journey. The 20-member squad, made up of passionate and experienced swimmers who continue to compete at a high level, is set to take on one of the region’s most respected masters events—an annual championship that attracts strong teams and individual swimmers from across the world.
NCBA’s KSh 300,000 commitment towards the team, comes as a timely boost that will help cover essential needs including team kit and key travel logistics as the swimmers prepare for the March 2026 competition. The support from the bank has been warmly received within the swimming community, not only because it eases the financial strain that often comes with international competition, but because it shows that Kenyan athletes are being seen and valued.
Kenya Masters Team Captain Peter Nduati could not hide his appreciation describing the support as a major lift for the athletes at a crucial stage of preparation. He said the funding will go a long way in ensuring the team is properly equipped and ready to compete with confidence, adding that NCBA has once again shown consistency by supporting masters’ athletes for the second year in a row.
Nduati recalled that the bank also came through last season by sponsoring Kenyan masters’ swimmers who represented the country at the World Aquatics Masters Swimming Championship in Singapore, a gesture that strengthened the relationship between the athletes and the institution. In his message, he also challenged the swimming community to return the goodwill by supporting NCBA in its work within the banking sector, emphasizing that strong partnerships are built through mutual support. He further appreciated Kenya Aquatics for standing with the masters community and providing the backing needed to keep the sport growing.
NCBA, said the decision to support the swimmers aligns with the bank’s corporate social responsibility focus, especially in areas that promote wellness, healthy living, and community development. The bank noted that masters swimming is a powerful example of sport as a lifelong lifestyle, where athletes continue to push themselves, stay fit, and inspire younger generations long after their competitive youth years. NCBA also expressed readiness to work with swimming and other sports communities, as it continues to support initiatives that create impact beyond the pool.
Kenya Aquatics Technical Director Omar Omari praised the sponsorship, saying masters swimming in Kenya has been steadily growing thanks to committed stakeholders and athletes who have kept the sport active and visible. He thanked the bank for stepping in at a key moment, and used the opportunity to call on more corporate partners to support swimming, pointing out that the sport offers valuable visibility and a strong platform for brands that want to connect with disciplined, goal-driven communities. Omari confirmed that preparations are already in motion, with the team scheduled for a joint training session on Friday, 30th January 2026 at Crawford International School, where the swimmers will sharpen technique, build endurance, and strengthen team chemistry ahead of the championship. While most athletes continue training individually at their respective clubs, the team is also working toward training together at least once every week to fine-tune their readiness as a unit.
As the countdown to George continues, the mood around the squad is one of purpose and pride. For the swimmers, this is another chance to represent Kenya with distinction, chase personal bests, and compete on a respected international stage.
