STEAM Powers Up Lucky Customers With Gifts

There’s something about the festive season that makes Kenyans hopeful. Hopeful for a fresh start, hopeful for a better year, and, as it turns out, hopeful that the next bottle they pick off the shelf could change their luck.

That was the spirit behind Kenafric Beverages and Bottling Limited’s nationwide “Jibambe na STEAM” campaign. This festive promotion turned ordinary purchases into extraordinary moments for thousands of consumers across the country.

Running from the festive season into the New Year, the campaign invited Kenyans to simply buy, scan and win. What started as a straightforward promotion quickly evolved into a vibrant nationwide engagement drive, blending in-store participation with online buzz. From weekly shopping vouchers to high-value electronics, the rewards added an extra spark to celebrations, and to “Njaanuary” survival stories.

The campaign wrapped up in style on Valentine’s Day at Greenspan Mall in Nairobi, where excitement filled the air as three grand-prize winners were unveiled before an enthusiastic crowd.

Shabir Rashid, a store manager and father of three from Mtwapa, walked away with a 55-inch Smart TV — a prize that instantly became a family affair.

“I usually see these promotions and never imagine I would be the one winning. When I got the call, I thought it was a joke. My children are very excited about the TV, so this really means a lot to us,” he shared.

Edwin Reuben Chomba, a 26-year-old tech enthusiast from Nairobi, won a powerful subwoofer, while Mohamed Mgandi Ndura, a university student from Nyali, received a brand-new smartphone — proving that sometimes, all it takes is one scan to change your week.

Participation was refreshingly simple. Consumers purchased STEAM Energy Drink from leading retailers, including Naivas, QuickMart, Eastmatt, Khetias, Mathai, and Magunas, scanned the QR code on the bottle neck tag, uploaded their receipts, and entered weekly draws.

Beyond the physical stores, social media amplified the excitement. Under the hashtag #JibambeNaSTEAM, participants shared festive snapshots, relatable January hustle stories, and hopeful countdowns to the next draw. It became more than a promotion — it became a shared national moment.

The strong turnout and enthusiastic response reflect STEAM’s growing footprint in Kenya’s highly competitive energy drink market.

In 2025, the brand was recognised at the Kenya Beverage Excellence Awards held at the Hyatt Regency Nairobi Westlands. STEAM was named the Most Preferred Energy Drink in Kenya, while the newly launched STEAM Recharge won the Most Preferred New Beverage Concept award. Its Power Up Game On campaign was First Runner-Up for Best Marketing Campaign of the Year, and Kenafric earned recognition as Runner-Up Manufacturer of the Year.

These accolades signal more than marketing success — they point to a brand that understands its audience and consistently shows up with energy, relevance, and innovation.
