Afrisend, Kenya’s leading international money transfer and foreign currency exchange provider, has committed KSh500,000 towards the historic 101st edition of the Tannahill Shield, reinforcing private sector support for one of Kenya’s longest-running and most prestigious golf tournaments.

The sponsorship was announced during a cheque handover ceremony at Royal Nairobi Golf Club, attended by the Afrisend CEO, Kelvin Jumba and the Royal Golf Club Captain, George Makori, as preparations get underway for the annual Easter tournament that brings together top club teams from across the country.

Now in its 101st edition, the Tannahill Shield remains a cornerstone of Kenya’s golfing calendar, with a legacy spanning over a century. The tournament continues to play a key role in strengthening competitive golf and expanding participation, including through its junior segment.

“We are thrilled to partner with a tournament that carries over a century of heritage,” said Afrisend CEO, Kelvin Jumba. “Just as a powerful drive requires precision and speed, Afrisend is committed to providing fast and reliable financial transfers for our customers. Through the ‘Send It’ simulator challenge, we shall be bringing a new level of exciting, digital engagement to the Village Square during the Easter Weekend”.

As part of its involvement, Afrisend will host a golf simulator challenge open to participants during the tournament period, with performance-based rewards linked to drive distances.

Both elite and amateur golfers will have the opportunity to compete for the “Afrisend Longest Drive” trophy, with drive distances converting directly into cash prizes redeemable via the Afrisend platform.

Tournament activities will run throughout the Easter week, starting with junior competitions and culminating in the main team event scheduled for April 3–5, 2026.
