KUCCPS Reopens KMTC Medical Course Applications For Unplaced Students, How To Apply

BY Getrude Mathayo · March 30, 2026 12:03 pm

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially reopened the application window for a range of medical programmes offered at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), giving prospective students another opportunity to secure placement.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, March 29, KUCCPS announced that a total of 21 medical courses are now available for selection during the revision period.

This move is aimed at providing a second chance to applicants who either missed out on earlier placements or did not submit their applications during the initial window.

Previously, the placement agency had reopened the application system earlier in the year, but that window closed on March 13, shortly after the January intake application period also came to an end. However, in its latest update, KUCCPS has expanded eligibility criteria significantly.

The current application phase is now open to Form Four leavers from as far back as the year 2000 up to the 2025 cohort. This broader eligibility is expected to attract both recent secondary school graduates and individuals who completed their studies in earlier years but still wish to pursue careers in the medical field.

KUCCPS has encouraged candidates who were not successfully placed in earlier rounds to take advantage of this new opportunity.

The agency emphasized that applicants will have a fair chance to compete for available slots in various KMTC campuses across the country, depending on their qualifications and programme requirements.

Interested applicants are required to submit their course selections through the KUCCPS student portal. The deadline for submitting applications has been set for April 3, 2026, and candidates are urged to complete the process before the closing date to avoid missing out.

The reopened programmes include a diverse range of diploma and certificate courses designed to equip students with practical skills in different areas of healthcare.

Among the diploma programmes available are:

  1. Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology
  2. Diploma in Radiography and Imaging
  3. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
  4. Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  5. Diploma in Optometry
