Del Monte Kenya Ltd, a grower, producer, and the largest single exporter of Kenyan products, has entered into a formal partnership with the Administration Police Service (APS) to restructure and strengthen security operations across its organization.

The initiative brings APS officers into a more structured and coordinated role alongside Del Monte’s existing security teams, including long-standing partners G4S and Garda World, to improve response times, manage risks more effectively and ensure that security is handled professionally and responsibly while being accountable to the communities around it.

Speaking at the official launch of the partnership, Inspector General of Police Mr. Douglas Kanja, welcomed the agreement:

“We want to see more of this in Kenya – where big companies and state security don’t just coexist but work together under clear rules that hold everyone accountable. Del Monte has shown they are serious about getting this right. By putting the community at the heart of this agreement, we’re making sure this partnership benefits the people living and working here.

Del Monte Kenya Managing Director Wayne Cook said the MOU marks a significant moment in the company’s ongoing effort to raise security standards:

“We’re committed to building trust in our communities and laying a stronger foundation. Partnering with the APS and G4S is about a more organized, more responsible way of working. This isn’t the finish line, but it’s a vital step forward for our company and the community.”

This agreement exemplifies Del Monte Kenya’s commitment to security that has standardized training, strengthened operational controls, and a commitment to human rights and the responsible use of force—principles that align with the company’s global values and internationally recognized frameworks, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

The company remains committed to engaging transparently with community members and to ensuring that security operations are carried out in a way that builds trust in the wider Kiambu and Murang’a Counties.
