Kakuzi Declines by 9.58 Percent to Emerge Top Loser

The NSE 20 and NASI index declined 11.83 points and 0.79 points to close at 4,343.16 and 146.25. Unga went up 9.09 percent to KES 45.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Kakuzi emerged the top loser, declining by 9.58 percent to close the day at KES 321.00.

The volume of shares traded soared by 275.94 percent to close at 105.69mn. Total turnover went up 160.69 percent to close at KES 1,879.99mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 1,200.38mn representing 63.85 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 94.03 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 93.28 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI rose by 0.38 percent and 3.47 percent respectively to close at 1,873.80 and 347.42. A total of 723,947 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 45.65mn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI gained 0.28 percent and 0.05 percent to close at 208.17 and 143.69. Total number of shares traded today was 14.41mn shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 4.18bn.

Tanzania: The DSEI gained 0.44 percent to close at 2,538.59 while DSE TSI shed off 0.50 percent to close at 4,560.92. Tanzania Breweries rose by 1.27 percent to close at TZS 14,810.00 to become top gainer. CRDB Bank declined by 1.28 percent to close at TZS 395.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 68,040 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 93.46mn.
