Kenyan commodity market price trends stabilising across major towns

The prices of fruits and vegetables, especially tomatoes and onions have begun to stabilise across major towns in Kenya due to adequate rainfall experienced in the western and central regions.

A 126-kilogram bag of cabbages was retailing at an average price of  1,500 shillings compared to last week’s average of 1,669 shillings across the country. Kitui had the highest market price of 2,200 shillings while Kisumu and Eldoret had the lowest market prices of 1,200 shillings.

A 64-kilogram bag of tomatoes is being sold in varied ways: 9,000 shillings in Eldoret, 8,000 shillings in Kitale, 7,000 shillings in Kisumu, 6,400 shillings in Nairobi, 6,000 shillings in Nakuru, 5,900 shillings in Mombasa, 5,000 shillings in Kitui and 4,500 shillings in Wajir.

A 142 kilogram of spring onions were being sold as follows: 3,500 shillings in Mombasa, 3,000 shillings in Kitale, 2,500 shillings in Nairobi, 2,400 shillings in Kisumu, 1,200 shillings in Eldoret and 1,000 shillings in Nakuru.

A 90-kilogram bag of avocado was retailing as follows in selected towns across the country: 3,900 shillings in Kitui, 3,500 shillings in Mombasa, 2,200 shilling in Nairobi and Nakuru respectively, 2,100 shillings in Eldoret and 2,000 shillings in Kisumu.

A 126-kilogram bag of Mangoes was being sold highest in Nakuru at 4,000 shillings whereas on Monday, it was being sold highest in Mombasa at the same price and lowest in Kisumu and Eldoret at 2,400 shillings respectively.
