Importance of Investing in Sports in Kenya

The greatest percentage of the Kenyan population is made up of the youth. Most of these youths are unemployed. Most of them, despite having the required skills to venture into the job market, the job market is already saturated. This leaves the idle as they lead an abject poverty lives in urban centers as well as in the rural areas.

Unemployed youths are easily motivated to join criminal gangs and indulge themselves in unproductive activities. Crime is on the rise as a result of unemployment. Some youths have also been radicalized and turned into terrorists as a result of unemployment.

He or she needs something to direct the energy on. How can this be possible when the job market is saturated?

Investing in sports have numerous benefits for the young generation in Kenya. First, talents will be developed and realized. One leaves a better life when he or she utilizes their talents. The realization of one’s talent will not only develop the talent but the nation. Two, employment opportunities will be created. Sports is one of the areas that creates enormous employment opportunities. Footballers will use their skill to earn a living, athletes will use their talent to earn a living, and swimmers will use their prowess to earn money and many others. Also, criminal activities will greatly reduce because young men and women will have something to occupy their minds and something to make them earn a living.
