Terror militia group, Al-Shabaab has confirmed on its social media that it is currently responsible for an early morning, 5th January 2020, attack on Manda Airstrip next to a military base in Lamu County.

The Manda airstrip next to the military base in Lamu County and was attacked in the wee hours of Sunday morning is used by both U.S. and Kenyan forces.

The Manda airstrip, next to the Lamu Military base, the attack comes barely three days since an attack on a bus in the County occurred killing three passengers and injuring several others who run to hide into the Boni forest.

“They have attacked Manda airstrip in Lamu, which is just next to the military camp that hosts military personnel from many countries including Kenya and the U.S,” a source revealed.

” We are informed that fighting is still ongoing,” the source added noting that the fight between the military and Al-Shabaab was still ongoing at the time of publishing this article.

It has been revealed that Al-Shabaab was seeking to access the military base through the neighboring Manda Airstrip.

“The base is home to hundreds of U.S.military personnel and Kenyan soldiers and serves as one of the many launch pads for the American crusade against Islam in the region,” the al Shabaab statement read in part.

The Kenyan Government is yet to make an official statement on the recent Al-Shabaab attacks.
