KAM to hold conference and exhibition in support of a green economy

BY · May 5, 2015 12:05 pm

Kenya’s leading business members organization, The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), will hold a three-day conference on 1st and 2nd July.

The Kenya Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Conference and Exhibition is the premier renewable energy development event in the East African region. The conference is a follow up to the successful 11th edition of the Energy Management Awards (EMA) and the Sustainable Energy Day of March 27, 2015.

The conference is meant to provide the audience with tools needed to increase renewable energy development in Kenya by focusing on surfacing technologies, policy, financing mechanisms and existing energy infrastructure.

This conference will address risk minimization and increase in the possibility of renewable energy projects to investors, project developers, policymakers and regulatory perspectives. They also get to learn from the successes of existing projects to better understand industry’s challenges and gain insights from financial institutions too.

This Forum is the most influential and strategic gathering for sustainable energy and clean technology growth. With over 1,000 policymakers and business leaders representing organizations from all over the region, the conference by KAM allows investors to showcase directly to over 800 KAM members, power utility companies from East Africa, 100+ Renewable Energy Developers assisted by KAM, 300+ companies supported by KAM and the Ministry of Energy that is currently implementing Energy efficiency measures and officials from the National and County Governments.

The Industry Sectors involved are: Solar, wind, biogas, geothermal, hydro, energy efficiency, smart grid, energy storage, financers and equipment. While Kenya presents the most developed industrial sector in the East African community, the electrification rate is hardly 20 percent hence the energy supply fails to meet demand. A good example of a successful transition to renewable energy would be the Kenya Tea Development Agencies (KTDA) which, with a sum of 16M USD in financing, started a small Hydro power project which is now their source of Tea processing power.
