Sameer Africa Climbs to Dominate Top Gainers List

Kenya Commercial Bank Ltd (NSE: KCB) climbed to claim the top spot and close as the most traded stock, accounting for 44.98% of the total value traded. Safaricom Ltd. (NSE: SCOM) remained second accounting for 23.39% of the days traded value.

Sameer Africa Ltd. (NSE: FIRE) climbed to dominate the top gainers list, scaling 8.64% to KES 4.40. Uchumi Supermarket Ltd (NSE: UCHM) registered a 3.23% gain to KES 8.00, curving in as the day’s second best gainer; showing a promising rally after registering as a top gainer the day before.

Home Afrika Ltd. (NSE: HAFR) dropped to claim the day’s top loser, shedding 6.98% to KES 2.00; after negative sentiment proved right, as both top- and bottom-line shrank significantly. British American

Investments Co (Kenya) Ltd. (NSE: BRIT) followed a close second as it retreated by 6.38% to KES 15.40.

Foreign Investor Participation

Thursday’s trading session continued the trend of the week of an increase in total trading volumes by foreign investors. Foreign investor participation accounted for 73.34% of total turnover against 26.66% local participation. Among the three days that recorded net inflows Thursday recorded the largest amount with a net inflow of KES 94.88Mn compared to KES4.89Mn for Monday and KES 3.82Mn for Tuesday.

Foreign investors accounted for 73.34% of the NSE turnover compared to 60.50% on Wednesday. Foreign investors engaged in net accumulative activities, resulting in net inflows worth KES 94.88Mn compared to net outflows worth KES25.7Mn for the previous day’s trading.

Kenya Commercial Bank Limited (NSE: KCB) was the day’s highest traded stock, recording a turnover of KES 280Mn to account for 38.76% of total market activity and 52.85% of foreign activity, followed by Safaricom Limited (NSE: SCOM) with a turnover of KES 139.22Mn representing 19.27% of total market activity and 26.28% of foreign activity.

Kenya Commercial Bank Limited (NSE: KCB) posted the day’s highest net inflows worth KES 30.51Mn and the day’s highest outflows were posted by KenolKobil Limited (NSE: KENO) worth 2.501Mn.
