BY · November 7, 2015 07:11 am

ReadytoWork is a pan Africa initiative created by Barclays to help prepare young people for the critical transition from education into the world of work. It will empower young people with the training, support and learning to improve their employment and self-employment expectations.

It is meant to improve the employment probability of young people through education resources, online content, workshops and work experience, better equipping them to find a work opportunity or start up their own business.

The initiative provides learning material to help young people develop work skills, people skills, money skills and entrepreneurial skills. The young people can select what they want to learn depending on individual needs and complete the learning online using computer, tablet or mobile platforms. Facilitators can register to access learning material and resources required to support young people on their journey.

ReadytoWork allows them to have a digital and face-to-face learning curriculum that will help them develop their skills across work, people, money and entrepreneurial skills. There are two ReadytoWork learning pathways, young people can follow one designed to help a young person secure employment and a second learner pathway focused on starting a business.

After a young person has completed the ReadytoWork curriculum they will also have the opportunity to apply for work experience at Barclays Africa or with one of the partners or if they are budding entrepreneurs, they can be connected to our small business program that helps enable people to start their own business.

The initiative is focused the critical transition from education into the world of work while helping any young person with the ability and ambition to succeed and not be defined by income brackets or demographics.
