Narok County is located in the former Rift Valley province of Kenya with a population of 850,920. Its capital and largest town is Narok.

Narok county is marked as one of the fundamental counties for achieving the economic pillar. Key contributions to this are in the tourism sector through the Maasai Mara and he agricultural sector through livestock farming.

Livestock farming is practiced for both local and adaptive exotic breeds. Livestock farming in this county contributes to 10 per cent of the country’s GDP.

Livestock farmers will be more than relieved when a slaughter house, milk and meat processing plants will be stablished in the county. Most of them ferry their animals to Nairobi by use of middlemen who tend to exploit the farmers.

Most people in Narok county keep huge chunks of livestock, thus, this happens to be an investment area to all interested investors out there. They majorly keep cattle for dairy purposes, meat and skin

Putting up a milk and meat processing plant will enable people in the county to learn modern methods of livestock farming as most of them still practice the traditional methods.

In the past, dairy farming in some parts of Narok was practiced more as a subsistence undertaking but some of the farmers have undertaken it as a source of income thus, if they learn more on the practices that will increase milk production then this will help the economy of the county to grow.

Due to the large number of livestock kept in Narok county, it is a suitable place for the location of a leather factory. All the skin from animals can be useful here for the purposes of making shoes, bags, belts, sandals among many other things. Leather products are most preferred thus the market is very fruitful.

Some of the leather products can be sold locally and a large number of them can be exported to the international market.
