Kenyan Shilling Maintains its Strength

The Kenyan shilling strengthened by 0.97% year to date against the US Dollar,5.93% year to date against the Sterling Pound while it weakened by 3.34 percent year to date against the Euro.

Equities

Market turnover at the bourse recorded  a 318.04 percent increase to KES 590.34mn (USD 5.83mn) from yesterday’s trading. The NSE 20 index and NASI index gained 0.60% and 0.38 per cent respectively to end the day at 4,054.29 and 147.44. Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 81.5% of total market sales and 79.8% of total market purchases.

East African Market

On the East African Community Markets, the RSE RSI and RSE ALSI in Rwanda remained constant to end the day at 145.98 and 130.50. In Uganda, the USE ALSI gained 0.21 per cent to end the day at 1,798.65 while USE LSI lost 0.04 per cent to end the day at 414.21.
