Association of Practitioners in Advertising (APA) Champions Return of the Creative Awards

The Association of Practitioners in Advertising (APA) have partnered with The Loeries, one of the world’s most prestigious companies championing creative expression, to launch the return of the APA Awards. The awards are set to reward the most Creative Agencies and individuals in the advertising industry.

The APA Awards, conceptualized with the aim of recognizing and rewarding excellence, innovation and originality will award various creative categories from TV, Radio & Print Commercials, Integrated Communications Campaign, Digital, Interactive, Experiential, Media Innovation, Sustainable Marketing, Young Creatives Award among others.

Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Lenny Nganga, Chairman of the Association of Practitioners in Advertising (APA), expressed his excitement on the comeback of the awards as well as the partnership with the Loeries. “As APA, we are delighted to re-introduce the APA Awards to the industry as a show of our commitment to upholding quality standards in the advertising industry. It is also a great honor and privilege to be in partnership with the international recognized Loeries which is aligned with our mission to maintain best practices and achieve global standards for the industry” he said.

“As we seek to enforce impartiality and credibility in how awards are done; this partnership could not have come at a better time. Further the increased sponsor interest reinforces the role of advertising and creativity in business competitiveness. Our mandate has never been clearer as APA, it is time we flaunted the capabilities and talents housed within all advertising agencies” Mr. Nganga added.

APA as an association is mandated to enforce advertising standards through adherence to the code of advertising practice and direct marketing and also advocate for professionalism among its members. It also seeks to recognize the application of creative excellence in the way brands and businesses communicate.

The Loeries recognizes that creativity and innovation are vital business tools for communication within the brand communication industry of Africa and the Middle East. Their key mandate is to help marketers, agencies and consumers appreciate the value of ideas and fresh thinking and showcase the value that creativity adds to brands. The Loeries involvement with this year’s APA Awards is in a bid to raise the awards’ profile as well as put Kenya’s creativity against other international campaigns.

Speaking about the partnership, Loeries CEO Andrew Human, who will also be the Awards Chief Judge said, “Kenya is rich in creativity. We have seen impactful ads from Kenya winning at the Loeries and we are eager to be part of this process. This partnership with APA will give us an avenue to connect with the creative industry in Kenya and at the same time work hand in hand to raise profile of the creative industry in Africa.”

The awards gala which is set to bring together all industry professionals and stakeholders to celebrate creative excellence is scheduled for 30th September 2016.
