Americans go to the polls on Tuesday 8th 2016 to elect their new President as the term of the first African American President Barack Hussein Obama comes to an end.

The two main contenders for the most powerful office in the world, Hillary Clinton and Billionaire Donald Trump are already neck to neck according to numerous opinion polls which have been released.

Hillary Clinton, running for the second time after losing against Barack Obama is said to have an upper hand in emerging the winner in today’s elections.

Donald Trump has been controversial with many saying that his commends on women and the African American will deny him votes even as the elections move to a knife-edge today.

Mr. Trump has promised to lower taxes to 15 percent in what he says will better the economy of the United States and at the same time suggesting the construction of a wall between America and Mexico to prevent migrants from entering America. At one time, he also threatened that he would expel all Muslims from the United States a remark that has always landed him in a hot soup.

Hillary Clinton has been on the lead most of the time but faced a rocky path some two weeks ago when the FBI started investigating the emails that she had sent and received using a private server against the US policies. The FBI involvement and the announcement saw Donald Trump popularity rising and in the process narrowing the gap between the two.

The final polls by Monday put Hillary Clinton ahead and this came as a result of the FBI suspending their investigations into the emails saga and said that there was no evidence linking Clinton to any wrongdoing.

President Barack Obama has been rallying support for Hillary Clinton warning Americans against electing Donald Trump.

Even as Americans start voting, analysts say that some states like Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Lowa, Maine, Michigan, Nevada and New Hampshire are the ones that will determine the winner.

Americans told Kenyans that Choices have consequences and Kenyans are telling them the same that in these elections, Choices have consequences.
