The Coming of Donald J Trump: Should Africa be Worried?

Donald J Trump, the 45th President of the United States of America, is said to have hinted, within and without his campaigns that Africans were lousy, lazy and useless with the only thing they are good being making love.
The man at the helm of the world’s most powerful office is also said to have said that Africa consumes much of the America’s monetary funds while in the process, America benefiting very little from them. He therefore, threatened to cut short the aid that the United States of America has been giving to Africa.
His controversial remarks during campaigns about Africa and the rest of the world led to almost the whole world rallying behind his opponent, Hillary Clinton. In reality, the whole world voted for Hillary Clinton but the Americans voted for Donald J Trump.
Mr. Trump, whose election into the big office has led to the outbreak of a series of demonstrations in major cities in the United States is set to be inaugurated on 20th of January 2017 and officially succeed President Barack Obama, the first black American President in the United States.
Most Americans are scared of Donald Trump especially those of the Muslim origin. The man had threatened that he would deport all Muslims from the United States blaming them for the wave of terrorist attacks around the world. He had also threatened to lock out all the migrants coming into the American soil and he made this clear by outlining the construction of a wall between USA and Mexico as a way of keeping the Mexicans in their own country.
His call was Make America Great Again and he said he would do this through reduction of taxes across the economy to 15 percent, something that pulled many Americans towards him. Now that Donald Trump, who many people dreaded is on power, what is in stake for Africans? Should the African countries start being worried? Is the man going to impact any negatively on the African economy? Should the African countries start turning to East and forget about the West?
According to economic analysts as well as political analysts, Africa has nothing to worry about Donald J Trump because America needs Africa as much as Africa needs America. Many believe that the coming of Donald Trump is not going to affect the relationship between the continent the world’s superpower.
Mr. Tomkim Baraza, a teacher as well as a political analyst believes that Donald Trump is going to follow the policies within his party and that his party would not like to see a strained relationship in Africa. “America has policies and these policies have to be adhered to regardless of who is in the office. America imports most of her goods from Africa including energy and I don’t think Donald Trump is stupid enough to gamble with this.”
“I think some of the free aid that we have been getting from the United States like funds for health and family planning is going to diminish. Remember Trump said that he is not going to allow American money to go to where it will not be making profits and cutting the aids is one of them,” said Mr. Nyongesa Wafula, a lecturer in one of the local universities in Kenya.
