90Kg-Bag of Maize Averaging at Ksh. 4,400 As Shortage Continues to Bite

A 90-kilogram bag of dry maize is currently retailing at an average market price of 4,400 across the country as maize flour shortage continue to hit households.

In the main towns, which are Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu, the cereal was retailing at 4,800 shillings respectively, 4,500 shillings in Kitale, 4,400 shillings in Eldoret and Nakuru had the lowest market price of 4,000 shillings for the same quantity.

Sorghum, on the other hand, was selling as follows in selected towns across the country; 7.650 shillings in Eldoret, 5,400 shillings in Kitale, 5,200 shillings in Nairobi and Kisumu, 5,000 shillings in Nakuru and 3,600 shillings in Mombasa as shown in the table below:

A 110-kilogram bag of groundnuts was going as follows; 16,500 shillings in Kitale, 14,300 shillings in Mombasa, 12,550 shillings in Nairobi, 12,100 shillings in Nakuru, 12,000 shillings in Kisumu and 11,250 shillings in Eldoret.

Both Rosecoco and Mwitemania beans were available in the market with almost the same market prices for a 90-kilogram bag as shown in the table below:
