Mixed trend as Nakuru emerges cheapest in Cereal prices

Prices in the cereal markets have fallen slightly this November from the previous month, as valuations dropped among major towns in Kenya.

However, the price of groundnuts showed a mixed trend with Nairobi emerging as the most expensive for a 90-kilogram bag of groundnuts at 12,250 shillings compared to 12,500 shillings reported early October.

Eldoret town the price for groundnuts has remained flat at Ksh 11,250 during the period.
Malindi is the cheapest at 9,000 shillings.

A 90-kilogram bag of green gram, on the other hand, was being sold as follows: 11,700 shillings in Eldoret, 9,800 shillings in Nairobi, 9,600 shillings in Kisumu, 9,000 shillings in Malindi, 7,900 shillings in Mombasa and 6,700 shillings in Nakuru.

Cowpeas was also available in the market and the prices for a 51-kilogram bag were as follows in selected towns across the country: 9,600 shillings Kisumu, 8,550 shillings in Nairobi, 8,100 shillings in Nakuru, 7,600 shillings in Malindi and 7,200 shillings in Mombasa and Eldoret respectively.

A 90-kilogram bag of Sorghum is as follows: 7,200 shillings in Eldoret, 6,000 shillings in Malindi, 5,200 shillings in Nairobi, 4,800 shillings in Kisumu 3,600 shillings in Mombasa and Nakuru respectively.
