Robert Mugabe Falls From Grace to Grass

Robert Gabriel Mugabe, commonly known as Uncle Bob, by his admirers, is no longer the President of Zimbabwe following a successful bloodless coup orchestrated by the country’s military brass.

Robert Mugabe is the oldest head of state in the world at the age of 93 and was considering ‘running’ for another term in the elections that were due to happen. He has been the country’s only President since it gained independence in 1980.

At one time, Robert Mugabe and his associates told Zimbabweans that he was set to Rule Zimbabwe for 1000 years. Plans were already underway for his unpopular wife, Grace Mugabe, to replace him when he ‘peacefully dies.’

Under Robert Mugabe rule, the economy of Zimbabwe fell by one billion percent bringing the country to its knees. The country’s currency lost its value, forcing the government to adopt the use of other four foreign currencies.

A week before the coup, his wife, Grace Mugabe said that Robert Mugabe had been anointed by the angels and that no son of man could succeed in removing him from power. The Mugabe family has been the ‘face of Zimbabwe’ more than 30 years.

Mugabe is also known for taking on the country’s mighty such as the United States of America. At a UN meeting, the man once took on George W. Bush head-on, telling him that he had no moral authority to lecture the world on human rights when he was busy murdering people including the Iraqis.

On Wednesday, his rule came to an end when the military officials announced on a television that they had taken custody of Mugabe and that he and his family were ‘safe and sound’ and that ‘their security was guaranteed.’ The military did not at once state that it had taken over but insisted that it was only targeting the corrupt officials around Comrade Mugabe.

Grace Mugabe is now rumored to have flown to Namibia while Mugabe and four of his powerful ministers are said to be under house arrest in Harare.

As they say, Uncle Bob just fell from Grace.
