The Board of the Kenya Women Holding Limited (KWH) is set to announce the organizations’ new name, Echo Network Africa (ENA) Friday in Nairobi after a meeting by the members.

“That the name of the company be and is hereby changed from Kenya Women Holding Limited to Echo Network Africa Limited with effect from the date set out in the certificate of change of name issued in that regard by the Registrar of Companies,” read part of the notice sent to the members.

According to the CEO, Dr. Jennifer Riria, very few stakeholders can distinguish between Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT) and the Kenya Women holding, therefore, there is a need to identify each of the organizations’ as individual brands.

“As each institution continues to grow, it is important that each entity gains its own identity and branding so that each can deliver on its mandate more effectively,” she said.

KWH is a woman-led organization that has over 400,000 female members in Kenya, and its mandate is to empower and advocate for them by providing non-financial services to them which will help improve their livelihoods.

KWFT took over the microfinance business from KWH commencing its operations in 2009, and therefore banks on women give out loans and partners with them to create wealth.
