Kitale Households Paying More for Spring Onions Compared to those in Nakuru

Households in Kitale are paying more for Spring Onions which is retailing at 3,600 shillings for a 142-kilogram bag compared to those in Nakuru who are buying it at the lowest market price of 1,000 shillings.

Market prices of tomatoes have slightly improved in Nairobi, Kisii, Eldoret, and Kisumu this week compared to last week. This is because a 64-kilogram bag of tomatoes is being retailed at 11,000 shillings in Kisii while last week it went at 12,000 shillings. Kisumu and Eldoret have the same market price of 8,000 shillings while last week it was being sold at 8,500 and 8,300 shillings respectively.

A 50-kilogram bag of Sukuma wiki is retailing with the following market prices in selected towns across the country: 2,700 shillings in Kisumu, 2,000 shillings in Kitale and Mombasa respectively, 1,800 shillings in Busia, 1,200 shillings in Nairobi and Eldoret respectively, 1,000 shillings in Kisii and 9,000 shillings in Nakuru and Kitui.

A 90-kilogram bag of Avocado is being sold highest in Mombasa at 3,300 shillings in lowest in Kisii and Kitale respectively at 900 shillings.

A 54-kilogram bag of Pawpaw, on the other hand, is being sold as follows: 2,750 shillings in Kitale, 2,700 shillings in Nairobi, 2,500 shillings in Nakuru, 2,430 shillings in Eldoret, 1,000 shillings in Kisumu, 8,00 shillings in Mombasa and 700 shillings in Kisii and Kitui.
