Kisii Households Pay More for Tomatoes Compare to Other Towns

Households in Kisii are paying more for tomatoes compared to other towns across the country.

A 64-kilogram bag of tomatoes in Kisii is retailing at a market price of 8,000 shillings, while in Kitui, the same quantity is being sold at 3,000 shillings.

A 138-kilogram bag of carrots, on the other hand, is retailing with the following market prices across the country: 8,400 shillings in Kitale, 6,900 shillings in Busia, 5,200 shillings in Mombasa, 4,100 shillings in Nairobi, 3,800 shillings in Kitui, 3,500 shillings in Isiolo, 3,400 shillings in Eldoret and 3,000 shillings in Kisumu and Nakuru respectively.

Spring Onions are also available in the market with ranging prices across the country. A 142-kilogram bag is being sold at 4,200 shillings in Kisii, 3,800 shillings in Mombasa, 2,400 shillings in Nairobi and Kisumu respectively, 2,000 shillings in Kitale and 1,200 shillings in Nakuru and Eldoret respectively.

As can be seen from the table above, a 126-kilogram bag of Cabbages is retailing highest in Busia at 5,040 shillings and lowest in Nakuru where it is going at a market price of 900 shillings.

A 22-kilogram bag of Cooking Bananas, on the other hand, is being sold as follows in selected towns: 1,200 shillings in Eldoret, 800 shillings in Busia, Isiolo and Kitale respectively, 600 shillings in Mombasa, 550 shillings in Nairobi, 350 shillings in Nakuru and 300 shillings in Kisumu and Kisii respectively.
