The Law Society of Kenya conference kicked off on 8th August at Leisure Lodge Resort in Mombasa and is expected to end on 12th August.
The LSK conference will be operating under the theme: The Rule of Law and Contested Constitutionalism in Post-2010 Kenya. It is expected to cover LSK’s progress, promises it made during 2017’s conference and how many it has achieved. The conference is also expected to look at its pitfalls and how best to handle them and what prospects it carries as the Kenyan law body.
The conference, held annually, will break its theme to a subtheme- Enhancing the legal practice in the private and public sector. The sub-theme will guide the conference towards understanding ways it can improve legal practice in both the private and public sectors.
Speakers at this year’s conference include the LSK President, Allen Gichuhi, Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Justice David Maraga, Hon. Amina Mohamed (Education) Cabinet Secretary, Retired Hon. Justice Paul Kihara, Professor Yash Pal Ghai, and Director at Katiba Institute, Commissioner Ruth Kirwa, Lady Justice Jacqueline Kamau and Professor Tom Ojienda.
