Apple Inc. on Wednesday finally announced the long-awaited details on its new iPhones, with larger screens than its predecessors, and the Apple Watch Series 4, which comes with an inbuilt ECG for health problem detection.

The flagship iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xs, and iPhone XR – an outright replacement for the iPhone x – feature Apple’s Face ID feature, that allows one to unlock their smartphones by looking at them.

The iPhone Xs comes with a large screen of 5.8 inches with “Super Retina” OLED display. The Xs Max is larger with a 6.5-inch version of the same display. Also, one gets to choose from gold, space grey, or silver finish version of the two models.

The iPhone Xs with 64GB storage is the cheapest version of Xs going for 999 US dollars. The Xs Max, on the other hand, will be available at a base price of 1,099 dollars. But iPhone XR is the cheapest of the flagship smartphones with a starting price of 749 dollars.

Compared to the Xs models, the XR doesn’t come equipped with the pressure-sensitive 3D Touch. Its display also comes with the relatively lower quality “Liquid Retina” LED display as opposed to the “Super Retina” displays. The Xr will also be available in various colors including white, black, blue, yellow, coral and red colors.

Meanwhile, the new Apple Watch in town comes with a 35 percent bigger display screen than those that were unveiled before. It is also available in sizes of 40mm and 44mm.

Apple’s Watch Series 4 with GPS will be available for 399 dollars, 100 dollars cheaper than the version with cellular connectivity, which will go for 499 dollars. The watches will come in colors of silver, gold, and space gray aluminum finishes.

While the battery life of the watch hasn’t changed, it runs for 18 hours and it packs other amazing features for your health. It is equipped with an optical sensor that notifies a person if their heart rate is too low. It can monitor your heart rhythms in the background.

Even better, the new electrical heart rate sensor makes the device function as an electrocardiogram or ECG. The product has been approved for use by the public.

As anyone would’ve expected, the Apple Store went down in advance of the new product announcements. It is worth mentioning that there was no major update that caught analysts or the lot out there off guard.

Nevertheless, the announcement comes days after Apple suggested to the U.S. government that proposed tariffs on goods imported from China could raise the price of Apple Watches and other Apple products.
