200 Students from Kwale County to Benefit from Base Titanium’s Education Scholarships

200 students who sat for the recently concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in Kwale County and Likoni Sub-County are set to benefit from Base Titanium’s scholarship programme as they join form one.

The 200 hundred students will be joining 1,012 others who are currently being sponsored for their secondary education by the mining company.

Base Titanium has continued to put efforts in order to support education programmes in the two regions.

The company sponsors another 712 university and college students from the same region pursuing different courses including, Medicine, Law, Engineering and Nursing.

Base Titanium described its scholarship and education programmes as a key resource and contributor to Kenya’s socio-economic development and more specifically a key enabler that is critical to the success of the Presidential Big Four Agenda.

Mr. Juma Lumumba, the community Life Skills Superintendent at Base Titanium said that the company believes that the community programmes have a positive impact in realizing Kenya’s national goals including Vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda.

“Specifically, in the Big Four Agenda, human resource enterprise will be a key enabler in the success of the different pillars such as Manufacturing, Universal Healthcare, Food Security and Affordable Housing,” said Mr. Juma Lumumba.

Mr. Lumumba added that the students in the different tertiary institutions study different fields that have a direct link with the Big Four Agenda. “Already we are seeing students who have cleared college coming to work in the community health institutions which is a big boost for universal health care,” He said.

The Scholarship by Base Titanium which will now have over 1,900 students, is a boost to Kwale County Government which also sponsors over 2, 700 students in secondary schools.
