US Midterm Elections: Democrats Shock Trump By Taking Over The House Of Representatives

President Donald Trump of the United States of America will have a hard time completing his first term in offices after the results of the midterm elections seemed to have ‘conspired’ against his administration.

On Tuesday, the Democrats swept off positions in the US House of Representatives by winning the majority of seats, an indication that Trump will have a hard time effecting some of his policies that most have been against.

This results also present an opportunity to Democrats to block Trump’s agendas and to open his administration to intense scrutiny before any agreement is reached.

Trump has been enjoying the support of his Republican Senators who were the majority in the Senate but the Tuesday results seem to have taken him by surprise. The campaign towards the midterm elections was turned into what seemed like a referendum towards Trump’s administration.

According to the NBC News, the Democrats are likely to win 229 positions against the 206 for the Republicans, giving them control over the Republicans for the first time in eight years. Trump has been widely criticized over his policies concerning health, taxes, and immigration, a move that saw a number of immigrants being deported back to their countries of origin.

According to political analysts, with the majority in the House of Representatives, the Democrats will have all the powers to investigate allegations of tax evasion against Donald Trump. They will also be in a position to force him to disclose his tax payment records.

A major blow to Trump will come if the representatives decide to look into the involvement of Russia into the US Presidential Elections and the role Trump played and if found culpable, they may start the process of impeaching him.

The Republicans have however retained dominance over the Senate and Trump still has an upper hand.
