America’s Got talent comes to Africa as East Africa’s Got Talent

The ‘Got Talent’ franchise, owned by Simon Cowell, an English television music critic, talent manager, television producer and entrepreneur who is also a judge on the show, is now in East Africa scouting for talent.

The Got talent show will give Kenyans and East Africans a chance to experience the show that has earned international recognition and built successful careers for its winners.

On 9^th April 2019, stakeholders in the entertainment Industry in East Africa congregated at the Movenpick Hotel in Westlands to officially launch the “East Africa Got Talent”.

East Africa Got Talent will be a reality TV show which will air on local stations and will focus on discovering and nurturing new talents across the East Africa region.

The show will be open to all from East Africa that believe are talented in one way or the other and seek to showcase their talent. The countries marked as participating are Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

The ‘Got Talent’ franchise was conceived by Simon Cowell’s SYCOtv Company and has been featured in over 40 countries worldwide, with the most famous being America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent.

The show will be sponsored by Safaricom, Clouds Media Group, KFCB among other partners.

“We are happy to announce our sponsorship of this iconic show which has been lauded as one of the world’s most successful reality TV franchise,” Safaricom’s Chief Customer Officer Sylvia Mulinge said the launch.

East Africa Has Got Talent will run for 10 weeks where the contestants will go through 3 phases before getting to the finals.

East Africa Has Got Talent will be hosted by Kenya’s Larry Asego alongside Ugandan comedian Ann Kansiime. Auditions took place on 11^th May and 12^th May 2019, at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
