Kenya Railways Re-Enforces Rule on ‘No Beverages and Foodstuff’ on SGR

The Kenya Railways have sent out a notice to all its passengers and customers reminding them that alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and cooked food remain strictly prohibited into the termini and stations of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

In the wake of a case that revealed that the Kenya Railways had slumbered in implementing the NO Beverage and Foodstuff into termini and stations after customers took to social media to complain of their discontent.

A disgruntled customer took to social media to explain his disgust for fellow passengers who were misbehaving while on a drinking spree in the train, the customer who went by the name Princess Mkasi on Facebook had photos to prove.

On the SGR table was an almost empty bottle of the alcoholic Southern Comfort, a bottle of half-full juice and a bottle of water with what seemed like passengers too drunk to hold their heads straight.

Another Facebook user reiterated that she too had sworn never to use the SGR again after fellow passengers decided to unleash their bedroom prowess in their drunken state in the presence of her small children.

“And this is the reason I will not use the SGR again, I didn’t like the behavior of some travellers and yet I had small babies,” the lady wrote and of the Facebook users responded by asking what had happened to her.

“They did nothing to me, but the behavior that like we were in the bedroom and they were all drunk and kept on telling me “mummy sorry”, my babies could not even sleep, I had to cancel my return trip,” the lady reveals obviously embarrassed by the situation.

In its effort to bring decency and decorum in the once family friend Standard Gauge, the Kenya Railways has sworn to confiscate all beverages and foodstuff at the security checkups.

Items that will be confiscated by the Kenya Railways security personnel will not be repossessed according to the management.
