Green Grams Averaging at Ksh 153 per Kg Across Major Market Towns

The average price of a kilogram of green grams is retailing at an average price of 153 shillings across major markets analysed by a spot check carried out by Soko Directory.

A 90 Kg bag of green grams is retailing highest in Kitale and lowest in Nakuru at market prices of 15,600 and 12,500 shillings respectively.

Maize, on the other hand, is averaging at a retail price of 3,860 shillings for a 90 kg bag with the highest price being recorded in Meru and Nairobi at 4,400 and 4,300 shillings respectively.

A 90 Kg bag of maize is being sold cheapest in Nakuru at 3,400 shillings while in other towns such as Eldoret and Kitale, it is being sold at 3,500 and 3,700 shillings respectively.

Red Sorghum, which is popularly used for making breakfast porridge is being sold at an average retail price of 5,500 shillings.

Retail prices for red sorghum in major towns across the country are as follows; 7,400 shillings in Nairobi, 6,900 shillings in Eldoret, 4,200 shillings in Nakuru and 3,500 shillings in Kitale.

Millet, which is also used for making breakfast porridge is retailing at an average price of 7,480 shillings with prices being as high as 10,400 shillings in Nairobi for a 90 Kg bag.

In other towns, a 90 kg bag of millet is being sold at 5,300 shillings in Kitale, 6,300 shillings in Meru and 8,700 shillings in Eldoret
