Bringing Your Family Together This Festive Season

BY Soko Directory Team · December 4, 2019 07:12 am

Christmas is three weeks away. 2019 kicked off like a joke, like any other year, yet ending like no other.

As 2019 kicked off, as it is the norm, many hoped for the best. The majority set what they termed as “New Year’s Resolutions.”

Well, as the year melts away, how many resolutions have you accomplished so far? How many resolutions have you marked as “Carry Forward”?

In most cases, when people set resolutions, they forget one thing; family. People rarely include “being with family” in their resolutions.

Family is everything. It may be made up of good people, or witches, or thieves, but as Dolly Parton says, “they will always be family.”

In most cases, when everything else is done, when everyone else is left, every sound falls silent, it is family that will have your back.

“It is always good to always be in touch with your family. It makes them think or know that you care,” says Skoch Okumu, a retired psychologist.

Now, how do you appreciate your family this festive season?

“Gifts!” Says a friend when I asked this question and she was right.

The holy books tell us the stories of kings, queens, and commoners who used to visit each other. Every time they did, they carried gifts. Gifts are often signs of goodwill. They soften the heart.

“A gift doesn’t have to be expensive. As for me, I don’t want my mum to continue cooking using firewood. I am buying her an energy-saving jiko,” says a lady I found buying a Jikokoa Xtra at Naivas Supermarket.

A gift can be anything as long as it comes from your heart. A gift has no price tag. So, what are you getting your family?
