6 Confirmed Dead In Tuesday Morning Al-Shabaab Attack

Six people have been confirmed dead after Al-Shabaab raided the Eastern part of Garissa County today’s, 7th January 2020, morning.

The suspected Al-Shabaab gunmen are reported to have been targeting police officers who were stationed at a roadblock near Saretho village in Eastern Garissa.

Kibet Bowen, the Garissa Deputy County commissioner Kibet Bowen said that two of the gunmen were killed by police officers while four residents were shot dead by stray bullets in the ambush.

Alshabaab has continued to attack Kenya in what it says is retribution for the Kenya Defense Forces being the Country under AMISOM to fight the terror group.

The last week has seen Kenya experience a number of attacks prompting the Country to heighten security which has led to the arrest of a number of suspects believed to be relaying surveillance.

Saretho area, where the ambush occurred is 25 kilometers from Dadaab Refugee camp and is on the border of Kenya Somalia.

“They had killed four people and were now trying to destroy a communication mast when they were engaged by officers,” said Police Spokesman Charles Owino adding that the attackers were more than ten.

The Manda Bay Attack

Terror militia group, Al-Shabaab also took responsibility for an attack that took place on 5th January 2020, barely two days ago, attack on Manda Airstrip next to a military base in Lamu County.

The Manda airstrip next to the military base in Lamu County and was attacked in the wee hours of Sunday morning and is used by both U.S. and Kenyan forces killing two contractors and one soldier.

The police IG Hillary Mutyambai has affirmed that security has been heightened at the borders and across the country in readiness to combat the terror group, “we are not taking any chances, and that is why we want the public to work very closely with us.”
