627 people died on Friday in Italy from the deadly Coronavirus, the largest number in a day in the world. This means that at least 26 people are dying per hour in Italy.

As the deadly Coronavirus continues to sweep across Italy, the number of deaths hit 4,032 on Friday with infections moving past 50,000.

The death rate from Coronavirus in Italy is now at 8.6 percent with experts warning of possible deaths of up to 1,000 a day if the situation will not be contained.

The morgues are now full of bodies. The military was called in on Thursday to empty them. Graveyards in Rome said that they were full and the government is now considering mass cremation for the bodies.

The number of deaths in Rome is now more that what was recorded in China, where the virus originated. China says it is working towards zero deaths in a day.

Experts have blamed the government in Italy for not taking “the pandemic seriously.” One expert said, “I don’t know what you are thinking. 4,000 people are dead, no lockdown, people are not wearing masks, what are you people thinking?”

A large population of Italy is made up of the elderly whose immune system is weak and not able to withstand the virus for long.

By Friday night, the number of deaths worldwide stood at 11,271 (an additional 1,200 deaths in less than 8 hours) while the number of confirmed infection cases stood at 270,069. Both deaths and infections are set to rise on Saturday as the virus continues to rise.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has already told the African continent to prepare for the worst. According to WHO, Africa should not take the pandemic lightly and should prepare or risk facing what is happening to Italy.

So far, the number of confirmed cases in Africa remains low, less than 600 but WHO says it might be bacause of poor testing methods.
