Coronavirus In Kenya: Matatus Now Required To Provide Hand Sanitizers

The first case of coronavirus has been reported in Kenya and Kenyans are advised not to panic but to observe the right measures to avoid contracting the virus.

Confirming the worrying precedented news, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe noted that the coronavirus case in Kenya was of a woman who had traveled from the United States through London into the JKIA.

The woman, 27 years of age, happens to have contracted the deadly coronavirus while in the US and has been reported to be a Kenyan citizen.

The 27-year-old woman becomes the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Kenya and East Africa and is reportedly in a stable condition even after having been confirmed by the Influenza Lab.

In the numerous measures that the government has announced, one of the most noticeable is one that will require public transport operators to provide hand sanitizers in the vehicles.

Kenyan public transport industry is known to be congested and chaotic which is enough cause of worry as hygiene has been an issue, especially in the capital city, how the government plans to avoid the spread can only remain to be seen.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has since announced a number of strict measures to observed to avoid the spread of the virus and this includes:

— Persons with a cough or sneeze to stay at home

— Stay at home if you feel unwell with a fever

— All public gatherings including rallies have been suspended

— All inter-school events have been suspended

— Public transport providers will be expected to provide hand sanitizers

— All prison visits have been suspended
