Kenya now has 184 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after five more have tested positive in the last 24 hours after 308 samples were tested and seven had also tested positive yesterday,” the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced in today’s media briefing.

The five include three Kenyans and two foreigners with three having traveled from Tanzania, one from the United Kingdom and one from the United Emirates.

“We are glad to note that Kenyans are realizing that the COVID-19 is here and are now taking the measures we have been talking about, “Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

Among the five who have tested positive for coronavirus are two cases in Nairobi, one in Mombasa and one from the mandatory quarantines while four were picked by the Ministry of Health surveillance team.

“The danger still remains because of those not adhering to the measures and we cannot stop the ball but will jealously guard these measures,” CS Kagwe.

“The salons, barbershops, and mama mboga, please stop allowing people to come to wait in your premises as it is flouting the rule on social distancing, sanitize your premises several times a day, do not allow customers without masks as this is endangering your lives, your other customers and your loved ones,” the Health CS has said.

“Simply assume everyone is positive for COVID-19 and work with that to help us win this war as the virus cannot spread without people,” the Health CS has urged Kenyans.

“Stay at home through this Easter holiday to help combat the spread of COVID-19,” the Health CS has said adding his gratitude to the corporates, ministry, and individuals that are working hard to end the COVID-19 epidemic,” the Health CS has said.

“Four more have been discharged after having tested negative for the second time and sadly, one has died after reporting to the hospital too sickly and was only found to have been positive for COVID-19 after he died and a post-mortem was conducted,” CS Kagwe has announced.

The patient who has passed away in Mombasa in the last 24 hours brings the number of COVID-19 deaths to seven and the total cases of infections in the country rising to 184 in total.

The majority of those that have tested positive for COVID-19 are between 30-59 years of age according to CS Kagwe.

Out of the 184 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kenya, 107 are males while 77 are females.
