Renowned Author Ken Walibora’s Body Found In KNH Hospital Morgue

Renowned Kenyan Swahili linguistic, author and Journalist Professor Ken Walibora is dead.

Ken Walibora was reported missing on Friday last week only for his body to re-emerge at the Kenyatta National Hospital Morgue. It has since emerged that Walibora was knocked down by a matatu on Ladhies Road, Nairobi, on the same Friday he went missing.

Ken Walibora, who will be remembered for his contribution to Kenyan education with most of his Swahili books being chosen for literature in Secondary schools, was driven to Kenyatta Hospital in a Nairobi County Ambulance and police drove to the scene where some street children were.

It is reported that it is the street children that took Walibora’s cellphone and his Identity Card but handed the belongings later to police which helped in identifying him later.

Walibora reportedly died before making it to Kenyatta National Hospital on the same Friday and his body was transferred to the KNH mortuary where it was found by his family on Monday after a search that had reached the online community.

Police officers are yet to recover Ken Walibora’s car as the news of his death has left Kenyans shocked with many taking to social media platforms to mourn him. Ken Walibora will be remembered for the publication of Swahili literature such as Siku Njema published in 1996 that made him a household name in the Country.

Walibora’s mastery of the Swahili language was noted by the Agha Khan who offered the author a job as the Nation Media Group Head of Kiswahili, after a few years at Nation Media Group, Ken Walibora joined the University of Wisconsin, USA, as an assistant professor, African languages.

Ken Walibora who is an alumni of Ol-Kejuado High School and the University of Nairobi played major role translating, Google and Microsoft website navigation details from English to Kiswahili.
