72 Test Positive For COVID-19 As Lang’ata Leads Nairobi With 21 Cases

Kenya has registered 72 new COVID-19 cases after testing 2,711 samples in the last 24 hours according to Health CAS Doctor Mercy Mwangangi.

The 72 who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours bring the total number of cases in Kenya to 1,286.

The 72 newly announced COVID-19 cases by the Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has also noted that 70 of the cases are Kenyans while one is a Somalia national and one Ugandan national.

The 2,111 samples tested in the last 24 hours brings the total number of samples tested in Kenya to 61,971.

Out of the72 that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, 44 are male while 28 are females with the youngest being a 12-year-old and the eldest being a 78-year-old.

A breakdown of the new COVID-19 cases in Kenya in the last 24 hours according to Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi:

Nairobi -52

Mombasa – 11

Kiambu -7

Turkana -1

Isiolo -1

Turkana County has reported it’s first COVID-19 case today raising the number of Counties reporting the viral infection.

The 52 COVID-19 cases in Nairobi include 21 cases in Lang’ata constituency, 15 cases from Dagoretti, three from Kasarani and three from Kibra.

The 11 cases from Mombasa include four from Nyali, three from Mvita and the rest from Kisauni while the Kiambu cases include two from Limuru.

Kenya has also recorded an additional nine recovery cases bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 402.

On a sad note, Kenya has also registered one death to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of those who have succumbed with the infection to 52 according to CAS Mercy Mwangangi.

“The Ministry of Health has trained 11,000 health workers across the country with all counties having a share of the trained workers on COVID-19,” CAS Mercy Mwangangi has said adding that the trained workers will help in boosting human resource.
