Tanzania’s President John Magufuli has declared Tanzania “coronavirus-free” thanks to the prayers of the Tanzanians, well the US Embassy in Tanzania claims hospitals in Dar es Salaam are overwhelmed.

“The coronavirus disease has been eliminated thanks to God,” President Magufuli told a gathering of worshippers in a church in the capital, Dodoma and even went further ahead to congratulate them for not wearing facemasks.

President Magufuli who continues to argue the COVID-19 outbreak has been exaggerated however lacks the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) in his tactics.

WHO has questioned the strategies used by the government of Tanzania to combat the spread of COVID-19.

President Magufuli has divided the World in judging his guidance in Tanzania in the combat against COVID-19.

President Magufuli has left the world confused as in his statements asking Tanzanians to go to churches and mosques as prayers would help vanquish the COVID-19 virus.

President Magufuli downplayed reports by the US Embassy claiming that the country’s hospitals in Dar es Salaam were “overwhelmed” and the chances of contracting the virus in Tanzania were “extremely high”.

“I believe, and I’m certain that many Tanzanians believe, that the corona disease has been eliminated by God,” President Magufuli said to a crowd that applauded him. Magufuli had initially urged Tanzanians to go for a three-day prayer to help fight COVID-19.

President Magufuli even further argued that Tanzania needed to be careful as the test kits being received from abroad could likely be infected with the virus.

“We need to be careful because some of these donations to fight coronavirus could be used to transmit the virus.”

“I want to urge you Tanzanians not to accept donations of masks, instead tell the donors to go and use them with their wives and children,” President Magufuli said.

Tanzania is one of the African countries that have ordered and received a herbal tonic from Madagascar as a cure for COVID-19 even as WHO warns on the use of medications not scientifically proven.

Whether Tanzania has or not used the Madagascar tonic on its COVID-19 patients remains unclear.
