247 New Covid-19 Cases In 24 Hours, Uhuru To Speak On 6th

Kenya has registered 247 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,188 after carrying out tests on 4,147 samples. The total number of samples since the first case now stands at 180,206.

242 of the positive cases were Kenyans while 5 were foreigners. 164 were males while 83 were females. The number of men getting infected with Covid-19 has kept on rising with each passing day as compared to women.

The youngest victim in the past 24 hours is a 0ne-year-old infant while the oldest was 100-year-old.  39 patients were discharged taking the total number of recoveries to 2148.

The number of fatalities has risen to 154 after two more patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours. The total number of counties affected has increased to 42 with Nyamira County being the latest entrant with one positive case.

The cases are distributed in the counties as follows:

Nairobi – 153

Mombasa – 35

Kajiado – 15

Busia – 12

Kiambu – 12

Uasin Gishu – 4

Machakos – 4

Garissa – 4

Murang’a – 2

Nakuru – 2

Siaya – 2

Lamu – 1

Nyamira – 1

Nairobi had the highest cases at 153. Distribution in Nairobi is as follows: Kibra (35), Westlands (28), Dagoretti North (16), Kasarani (13), Embakasi East (12), Starehe (10), Langata (8), Makadara (6), Embakasi South (5), Embakasi West (4), Kamukunji (4), Roysambu (4), Dagoretti South (3), Ruaraka (3), & Embakasi Central (2).

The country now waits on President Uhuru Kenyatta who is expected to address the nation on 6th on the way forward. The President already met with the Governors and according to Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, the President is expected to open up the economy.
