Today morning, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) shared a worrying case of road rage where a Probox driver stabbed a boda boda rider to death.

The boda boda rider, Ian Mwenda, was riding from Maua, Meru County towards Antubochiu Market on Monday, April 5 when his cap got blown away by the strong wind.

According to the reports, the probox driver, who has been identified as George Miriti Kalung’e, was driving behind Mwenda and got enraged when the boda boda rider abruptly stopped on the highway to pick his cap.

Kalung’e stopped his probox and angrily charged at Mwenda asking him whether he wanted to be knocked dead. Mwenda drove off towards the lower Antubochiu market to avoid confrontation, but the driver followed him and overtook him a few meters ahead.

After blocking the rider, Kalung’e came out of his car carrying a knife and stabbed Mwenda who sustained serious injuries and dropped dead on the road.

He was confirmed dead on arrival at the Maua Methodist Hospital where good Samaritans had rushed him.
