How To Buy Kenya Power Tokens Using Bonga Points

Kenya Power customers can purchase tokens and settle electricity bills using Bonga points following a partnership agreement between the electricity distributor and Safaricom.
The Kenya Power and Lighting Company in Kenya has two systems of electricity service across the country. You can have either a post or pre-paid meter.
The latter system requires its users to purchase electricity tokens, which they then feed into their meters to use up to their completion. The prepaid system provides the benefit of budgeting and using electricity as one can afford
The service is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. Safaricom said the initiative would enable their over 7.1 million domestic customers to redeem their Bonga Points to purchase tokens or pay their monthly bills at the rate of Ksh.20 cents per point.

What you will need
- A phone
- A Safaricom line
- Bonga points, where Ksh 1 is equal to 5 Bonga points. Therefore, if you want electricity tokens for Kshs 500, you will require 2500 Bonga points.
How to pay for your electricity bill using Bonga points
- Dial *126# and select ‘Lipa Na Bonga Points’
- Select Pay Bill
- Enter Business number 888888 for postpaid and 888880 for prepaid
- Enter account/ meter number
- Enter the amount you want to pay
- Confirm the details of your payment and input your service pin to complete the payment
You will receive your tokens immediately after your purchase with your Bonga points. It is important to note that there are no extra charges to using the Bonga points. Only the Bonga Points value of the bill you are paying will be deducted from your Bonga balance once redeemed.
Customers paying for electricity using Bonga Points are subject to the applicable electricity tariff as stipulated by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
Also, note that one can redeem Bonga points to purchase electricity tokens for another person. Once you insert the paybill number, the account number you choose can be of the other person.
