53% of Companies are at Risk of Supply Chain Attack, Acronis

Across the globe, 53 percent of companies face a risk of supply chain attacks, a report by Acronis, the global technology cybersecurity company has revealed.

The percentage is a representation of 3600 IT managers and remote employees working at small and medium-sized companies across 18 countries worldwide.

These firms face a greater risk of supply chain attacks since they are not using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions, the tech firm noted.

“Despite the globally recognized attacks on trusted software vendors, like Kaseya or SolarWinds, over half of IT leaders believe that using ‘known, trusted software’ is sufficient protection – making them an easy target,” a part of the report said.

The highest recorded types of attacks this year were phishing at 58 percent, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks at 39.8 percent, and Malware attacks which amounts to 36.5 percent

The report further stated that across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, the average of companies experiencing a cyber-attack was “at least once a day” and “at least once an hour”.

“Only a small number of companies have taken the time to modernize their IT stack with integrated data protection and cybersecurity. The threat landscape will continue to grow, and automation is the only path to greater security, lower costs and improved efficiency, and reduced risks,” Acronis said in a statement.
