Sugar Prices Up By 56%, Cooking Gas Spike By 167% As We Dance For Politicians

The cost of living in Kenya has just become unbearable as the drums of politics continue to beat. We gave the country to drunkards, rapists, thieves, and prostitutes to run and now we have been left to wail from the toilet like madmen and women.

Did you know that in just five years has increased by 56 percent and the price of cooking gas by 167 percent from 600 shillings to 1600?

Did you know that the price of maize flour (2 kilograms) has increased by 80 percent from 90 shillings to 160 shillings and the price of wheat flour up by 70 percent from 100 shillings to 170 shillings?

Did you know that the price of salt for the first time went up by 100 percent from 10 shillings to 20 shillings while that of matchbox went up by 150 percent from Ksh 2 to Ksh 5?

Did you know that the price of a liter of cooking oil is now three times more expensive than that of petrol? From 160 shillings to 360 shillings, a rise of 125 percent?

How about the price of fertilizer? Did you know that the price is up by 180 percent from 2500 shillings to 7000 shillings? How about bread? Up by 40 percent from 40 shillings to 60 shillings.

Perhaps you also do not know that the price of milk went up by 33 percent from 45 shillings to 60 shillings while that of steel wool by 200 percent from 5 shillings to 15 shillings.

On Monday, Kenyans took to the social media platforms for the price of food to come down. Given that we have cartels in power and in charge of industries it is obvious that the prices are not coming down any time soon. But as usual, we shall continue wailing as long as it is not time for voting.

What is sickening is that some MPs, the fools we elected to address the cost of living are on social media wailing with us. These fools think that we are fools. Or perhaps we are because when the voting time comes, we shall still retreat to our political cocoons and vote them in.

Our leaders who are supposed to address the problem of food costs are on social media shouting louder than us. The truth is, they are not shouting. They are laughing at us. Because they know that we are warthogs with the shortest memory in the world.
