‘"The advertisement below is in circulation on the internet and social media. It is fake,’’ the examination body said on its official Twitter account.

The Kenya National Examination Council has called upon Kenyans to be aware of fake circulations on social media inviting teachers for various applications. This is after a poster went viral on social media inviting teachers to apply for training in preparation for the national examination.

“The advertisement below is in circulation on the internet and social media. It is fake,’’ the examination body said on its official Twitter account.

The said advertisement informs teachers that training for the national examinations will be conducted in the coming months, in an undisclosed venue, requesting them to pay a training fee of 10,500 shillings.

‘’Each applicant will be required to pay a training fee of 10,500 shillings through KNEC Mpesa pay bill number 819313 using their own registered phone number. For the account number, the applicant shall indicate the applicable examination i.e., KCPE, KCSE, PTE, DTE, business or technical,’’ reads part of the flagged post

The training dates according to the fake letter are scheduled to take place between 3rd and 9th October 2022 and should be done online by 25th September 2022.

The post goes ahead to inform teachers that KNEC will thereafter engage the qualified examiners using criteria for recruitment of examiners based on their needs.

‘’Qualified applicants will be trained to mark the above examinations. Successful trainees will be incorporated into the KNEC examiners’ database,’’ the post adds.

It further notifies teachers that they must be well versed with considerations that the council makes when selecting examiners for training, which include, regional balance, age, gender, work experience, as well as a professional qualification.

KNEC has urged teachers to be on the lookout citing that it only posts on its official pages.
