Naivas, Quickmart Supermarkets Will Close On Election Day

Naivas and Quickmart supermarkets have announced that all their branches will remain close on August 9th to allow all their staff and partners to exercise their voting right.

The two retail outlets have therefore advised their customers to ensure they get whatever they need before the date which is fast approaching.

Most bar service providers in the country have also announced to close on the eve of the August 9 election.

In the previous elections conducted in Kenya, most business premises were closed save for a few service providers in the transport industry, restaurants, and kiosks.

With less than a week left until Kenya’s general election, some business owners are also afraid of operating on the 9th due to previous occurrences that have led to the loss of their resources.

The situation is normally worse in towns and one biggest prayer among business owners is for peace to prevail during and after the general election.

Companies have reported a reduction in orders in the run-up to the general election according to the latest survey by the Central Bank of Kenya

The Monetary Policy Committee CEOs Survey attributes this to the elections slated for August 9, as well as high inflation that has constrained consumer spending.
