Labor CS Welcomes The Commencement Of New NSSF Rates

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection CS Florence Bore has welcomed the commencement of the National Social Security Fund Act Number 45 of 2013 which requires all employers to fully comply with the law with immediate effect.

The law requires that all employers remit a total of Kshs 2,160 as Tier one and two for their employees to NSSF.

Speaking during a brief on the implementation of the Act by the NSSF Board of Trustees Chairman Anthony Munyiri, CS Bore said the enhanced savings will help workers enjoy a decent retirement.

She was accompanied by the Labour PS Geoffrey Kaituko and the NSSF Acting MT/CEO David Mwangangi among them a section of NSSF senior management.

The CS challenged players in the Pensions Scheme to embrace progressive reforms in the sector to ensure that Kenyans reap full benefits from their savings. CS Bore assured Kenyans that her Ministry will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that section 43 (e) of the Kenyan Constitution that every Kenya has the right to social security is a reality.

She assured the NSSF team that her ministry will support the Fund in its planned public sensitization and member education campaigns to enhance the culture of savings in Kenya.

In response, the NSSF Board of Trustees Chairman Mr. Munyiri said his team will work closely with the Fund stakeholders to actualize the implementation of the Act for the benefit of the Kenya economy and its members.

He said the Fund has enhanced its ICT systems to facilitate effective and efficient service delivery and the ease of doing business with its members, especially in benefits payment processes.
