Government Announces Recruitment Of 2,000 Vacancies For TVETs

The government plans to recruit 2,000 additional instructors for the country’s 238 Technical Education and Vocational colleges, TVETS, across the country

The Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said that the recruitment will strengthen the technical capacities of the Colleges to develop the range of technical and vocational skills in the students they have admitted.

The Education CS made the remarks when he commissioned Chemasiri Technical and Vocational College in Teso North Subcounty in Busia County on Friday. According to Machogu, the government recently recruited 1,300 new instructors who will join the rest of the instructors to strengthen the capacity of TVET colleges to train students.

Machogu said that the government is giving priority to TVET to help furnish practical skills to young people to serve an economy that requires technical and vocational skills.

Machogu also noted that TVET colleges will equip young people with globally marketable skills. He made the remarks when he commissioned Chemasiri Technical and Vocational College in Teso North Subcounty in Busia County last Friday. The CS also commissioned over 100 computers to the college to facilitate ICT training.

The government will establish technical training institutes in all the Constituencies. The area Member of Parliament, Mr. Kaunya thanked the government for the support it has given to the College, saying the donation of 100 computers to the college will be useful in training students receive.

The college offers courses in Building and construction, mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, welding, ICT, and Agriculture.
