Shock As 4 Patients Share A Bed At Webuye District Hospital

When Steve Biko Wafula walked into Webuye District Hospital in Bungoma County, he did not expect it to be a first-class hospital but also did not expect it to be so dilapidated that it only smelled of death, hopelessness, misery, pain, and corruption.
Mr. Biko had taken his cousin to the hospital who needed some diagnostics as well as dialysis. Shock on him. The hospital does not have a functioning dialysis machine. The room where the machine is supposed to be looked like the ruins of Kismayu.

A more rude shock was waiting for him when he stepped into the male ward. At least four patients with different ailments were sharing a shaky bed. Imagine four patients, each with a different illness, sharing a bed. It was a pathetic and terrifying site.
Webuye District Hospital is horrible. 4 patients with different ailments are sharing a BED. What the f*ck is this? Governor Lusaka just bought a Mercedes worth Ksh 50 million the other day. No medicine. Only 2 nurses, 1 doctor who rarely comes… What the hell man? ☠️☠️ pic.twitter.com/ZT7G2Drupu

The ward floor was dirty with the potential to cause another explosion in terms of infections and re-infections. Patients were in pain with just two nurses who seemed overwhelmed with a lot of work. There was just one doctor in the whole hospital at the time.

The female ward was even worse. Patients were still sharing beds with no one present to help them. They were just left there reeling in pain and hoping for a miracle to happen, perhaps from their ancestors or the higher heavens. Or just waiting for death to come.
Kenneth Lusaka, The Governor Of Bungoma County
The current Governor of Bungoma County is Kenneth Lusaka, who claims to be “in government.” Lusaka was elected by the same people who voted him out after the first term, a term that was riddled with massive corruption including the buying of a wheelbarrow at 109,000 shillings.
In his term, after being out for 5 years (though he was the Speaker of the Senate), Lusaka seems to have come to punish the people of Bungoma County for making the mistake of electing him, knowing well that he was not that good in taking care of them.

Just recently, the Governor bought himself a top-of-range Mercedes Benz that costs millions of shillings, enough to build a new hospital. The main hospital in Bungoma is also in a terrible state with health workers saying they have gone for months without salaries.
Most Members of Parliament in Bungoma County claim to be in the ruling party, calling President William Ruto their personal friend. What is the benefit of that if people continue facing death with no one to help them out even once?
