NCBA Bank has started speeding up the initiatives that will see it plant at least 10 million trees by the year 2030 according to the bank’s General Managing Manager John Gachora as he led a tree-planting exercise in Nakuru County in an event attended by Governor Susan Kihika.

According to Mr. Gachora, NCBA will be planting 10,000 trees in partnership with different schools in Nakuru County to mark World Environment Day. Today’s event is part of a series of activities that the bank has put in place to make the world a better place.

“To scale the project, and to achieve the 10 million tree-planting mark, we will activate the concept of Adopt a School with our branches being responsible for planting and tracking trees growing within their location,” said Mr. Gachora on Tuesday.

“Today we are kicking off a partnership with Baboon Project Kenya a conservation project that was established in the year 2021 in Nakuru and collaboration with Kenya Forest Service. Together we plan to plant 10,000 tree seedlings with different schools and institutions in Nakuru County,” he added.

In June 2023, NCBA donated and planted over 20,000 trees in Bungoma County at various institutions to mark World Environment Day. As part of that day’s activities, the bank planted 4,000 trees at Kibabii University in an event graced by the Governor of Bungoma County H.E. Kenneth Lusaka, and H.E. Tessie Musalia, Spouse to the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Last year alone, NCBA planted 300,000 trees in addition to the 200,000 trees planted in Kieni, Kibiko forest, golf courses, and various institutions across the country in the past years. Since 2018, NCBA in partnership with various organizations has planted 7 million trees around the country.
