BY Juma · June 2, 2024 10:06 am

NCBA Bank is expected to plant 10,000 seedlings at Kimathi Primary School in Nakuru County on June 4, 2024, as continues with the journey to plant 10 million trees by 2030. The event will be attended by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.

NCBA has rolled out several initiatives through strategic partnerships that will see it plant 10 million trees. It also aims to fully eliminate single-use plastic and recycle 100 percent of its waste by 2030. The bank’s purpose is to green its supply chain and transform all its corporate gifting to be sustainable.

Through the Change the Story campaign, in November 2023, NCBA, in collaboration with Boreka Group and Kitui County, planted 40,000 seedlings as part of its commitment to conserve the environment. The tree planting exercise was carried out with the involvement of the community to encourage the active participation of farmers in sustainable agriculture.

Last year alone, NCBA NCBA planted 300,000 trees in addition to the 200,000 trees planted in Kieni, Kibiko forest, golf courses, and various institutions across the country in the past years. Since 2018, NCBA in partnership with various organizations has planted 7 million trees around the country.

In June 2023, NCBA donated and planted over 20,000 trees in Bungoma County at various institutions to mark World Environment Day. As part of that day’s activities, the bank planted 4,000 trees at Kibabii University in an event graced by the Governor of Bungoma County H.E. Kenneth Lusaka, and H.E. Tessie Musalia, Spouse to the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

As NCBA continues with these greening initiatives, let us face it, trees, with their silent presence, bear witness to the marvels and mishaps of our existence. Trees are the lungs of our planet, tirelessly purifying the air and providing habitat for countless species.

NCBA Bank Kenya understands the significance of these gentle giants in maintaining ecological balance and, more importantly, in securing a better future for all.

The beauty of NCBA Bank Kenya’s approach lies in its emphasis on collaboration. Engaging employees, customers, and local communities helps the bank foster a sense of collective responsibility. Through its Citizenship Program, it nurtures a vibrant ecosystem of individuals united by a shared vision: to create a greener, more sustainable world.

There is no doubt that beyond the concrete jungles, NCBA Bank Kenya extends its green arms to rural communities, recognizing their integral role in the sustainability puzzle. The bank not only helps combat deforestation but also empowers local residents with newfound economic opportunities. It’s a powerful testament to the bank’s commitment to social inclusion and equitable growth.
